2022 Deil S. Wright Lecture: Fired Up, Burned Out, or Both? Making Sense of the Public Service Workforce (Hybrid)

March 3, 2022 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

The School of Government will host the 2022 Deil S. Wright Lecture: Fired Up, Burned Out, or Both? Making Sense of the Public Service Workforce. The lecture will be presented by Mary E. Guy, a widely acknowledged expert on social equity and the emotive demands of street level work, and her teaching and research focus on the human processes involved in public service delivery. Her talk will focus on those who deliver public services–elections officials, public health professionals, police officers, teachers, caseworkers, parks and recreation workers, city bus drivers–the nerve endings of the policy process. Guy will speak about the challenges confronting the workforce, what happens when state meets street, and changes on the horizon.

A University of Colorado Distinguished Professor at the University of Colorado—Denver School of Public Affairs, Guy is also a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, past president of the American Society for Public Administration, and co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Social Equity and Public Administration.
