Carolina ROCTS (Rejuvenating Our Community Through Service) is a student organization advised by Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, in partnership with the Carolina Center for Public Service’s Buckley Public Service Scholars (BPSS) program. ROCTS plans, organizes and supervises the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service in January, as well as other service learning projects in the community.
As a member of ROCTS, you can earn approximately half of the 300 hours of public service required by BPSS in your first year. This achievement earns you the distinction of being a Buckley Public Service Scholar on your transcripts.
ROCTS’ objectives are to identify service projects opportunities for community and educational services, and to mobilize the UNC student body to complete these projects. In order to fulfill our goals and objectives, we utilize the resources of various campus groups and offices, in addition to operating under the auspices of D&I.
- Must enroll as a Buckley Public Service Scholar (BPSS) and follow their guidelines (must have four semesters remaining and be a full-time student)
- Must complete one service project either within or outside of ROCTS
- Must volunteer for planning and undertaking of Day of Service
