Uplift PLUS is an intensive 2-week summer academic enrichment and college readiness program for Project Uplift participants. This program is only for NC residents. During the program, participants live on campus, take an essay writing course, participate in cultural competence workshops, and interact with campus partners and offices. Participants also engage in college application prep, leadership development, and experiential learning opportunities. This residential program provides an immersive and engaging experience to prepare the next generation of scholar-leaders. By participating in Uplift PLUS, students will:

  • Participate in academic, social, cultural, and experiential learning activities
  • Take an essay writing course in which they draft their college admissions essay
  • Gain exposure to campus resources and various schools and units at UNC-Chapel Hill
  • Receive one-on-one mentoring from current Carolina students
  • Participate in weekly sessions with representatives from UNC Undergraduate Admissions

Students must attend Project Uplift to participate in Uplift PLUS. There is no separate application for Uplift PLUS. Students must indicate on their Project Uplift application if they would like to be considered for Uplift PLUS. The total cost of Uplift PLUS is $1200, including a $100 non-refundable deposit. Scholarships are available. Information about scholarships will be shared with students who are invited to participate.
