Carolina ADMIRES

Students from Carolina ADMIRES program at the Old WellCarolina ADMIRES (Assisting in Development and Mentoring an Innovative Research Experience in Science) is a program designed for 8th and 9th-grade students who have an interest in science and would like to learn more about what a future career in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines would bring.

Meetings are approximately once a month on Saturday mornings throughout the academic year, with a final presentation day in the early afternoon on a Saturday in May. If you live within Durham, we may be able to offer your student transportation to and from ADMIRES meetings.

The program includes modules on professional development in the fall, and science mentorship and research in the spring with one of our Faculty Mentors.

Information about eligibility and expectations, student projects can be found HERE.

Please see comments below by Amy Oldenburg, associate professor in Physics & Astronomy, and faculty sponsor/co-director of ADMIRES, regarding the 2020 cohort and their presentations.
