High School Student Programs

Making your decision about where you’ll attend college is challenging. Will you feel welcome at the university of your choice?

At UNC-Chapel Hill, every student is a part of the Carolina Community. From the moment you begin your academic journey, there are programs specifically designed to make you feel part of the campus family.

UODI’s recruitment and outreach programs reflect UNC’s commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive academic community. We offer on- and off-campus programs to introduce Carolina and the college experience to underserved communities, including AfricanĀ  American, American Indian, Asian American, Latinx, low income, rural and first-generation college students.

As a prospective student, you have many exciting opportunities to get to know the friendly, inclusive atmosphere of Carolina. UODI offers Summer Enrichment Institutes programming that offers uniquely interactive, experiential on-campus experiences designed to increase leadership strengths and promote academic success:

In addition to the Summer Enrichment Institutes, UODI offers Behind the Scenes at UNC, an opportunity for high school students to meet with UNC Student ambassadors to get an inside track to the University, receive information from Undergraduate Admissions and connect with a current student.

UODI also offers special tours for elementary, middle and high school students, as well as community groups. If you are interested in scheduling a special visit, please contact us at or 919-843-6086.

Admitted High School Student Programs

UODI understands that the decision-making process can often be challenging. Finding a place that fits your academic interests while supporting your social and emotional growth is important. Our goal is to help you understand Carolina, so we host a special event called Experience Carolina.

After receiving an acceptance letter, all admitted students will receive an invitation to join us and learn more about being a Carolina student.

During pandemic protocols, special COVID-19 programming has been made available from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, which hosts the “Connect with Carolina series of live virtual sessions from students, faculty and staff. This series helps introduce you to the Carolina community and learn more about academics, campus and student life.
