The Status of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA)

October 24, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

In 2019 and 2020, the U.S. celebrates the centennial of the 19th Amendment. Passed by Congress on June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920, the 19th amendment granted women the right to vote. But whatever happened to the Equal Rights Amendment, which was passed by the U.S. Senate and sent to the states for ratification in March 1972?

Lori Bunton, Co-President of the ERA-NC Alliance will present a brief overview of the ERA’s history, and an update on the status of the ERA. With so much attention now on gender equity for women, people of color and those who are gender non-conforming or non-binary, Lori will address how the current ERA movement is responding to these 21st century nuances and what steps we can all take to pursue equality.
