Talk and Q&A with Professor Frank Baumgartner: “Suspect Citizens: Driving While Black in North Carolina and the US”

The Odum Institute 95th Anniversary Speaker Series Social Science Speaks will host Richard J. Richardson Distinguished Professor of Political Science Frank Baumgartner at UNC-Chapel Hill. Professor Baumgartner has written extensively on the topics of public policy, lobbying and framing in both US and comparative perspectives. He has published scores of articles in the major political science journals, serves on numerous edtorial boards, has held various offices in the Midwest Political Science Association, the American Political Science Association (including Vice President, 2015-2016) and has been active with the National Science Foundation. His most recent book is Suspect Citizens (Cambridge, 2018), which focuses on racial differences in the outcomes of routine traffic stops. He has won numerous awards and in 2017 was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A. Refreshments will be served.
