Queer Perspective Speaker Series: Dr. Derrick Matthews “My Angels will be Tall Black Drag Queens: Embracing Intersectionality to Advance HIV Research”

The Queer Perspective Speaker Series (QPSS), hosted by STEM Pride of the Triangle, invites successful STEM professionals to speak about their work, their LGBTQ+ identity and how these areas intersected for them on in their career path. Co-hosted with the Black Graduate and Professional Student Association, this QPSS will feature Dr. Derrick Matthews (School of Public Health), whose topic is “My Angels will be Tall Black Drag Queens: Embracing Intersectionality to Advance HIV Research.” Dr. Matthews will highlight his identity as a gay Black man in the context of his career and professional development. There will be hors d’oeuvres after the event, followed by a limited number of seats to have dinner with Dr. Matthews.
