The Department of Communication will present A Feminist World, written by Chandler L. Classen and directed by Joseph Megel.

The play is an intriguing and imaginative satire that blurs fantasy and reality. It creates a conversation about science fiction, communication, right-wing thought, and fears over nuclear waste, and is based on a report from the U.S. Department of Energy whose “futures committees” predicted veritably terrifying threats to nuclear waste storage in the U.S.

The play stages the various ridiculous scenarios predicted in the report, imagining how a committee of scientists, futurists and humanists could create science fiction and claim they knew what would happen in 100, 1,000 and even 10,000 years into the future. A Feminist World is a bewitching political satire that truly transports viewers to the U.S. Department of Energy’s envisaged future lifeworlds.
