Pell Restoration and Racial Equity

#Equity is Justice will host a virtual panel discussion on Pell Restoration and Racial Equity. The discussion will focus on the critical importance of education as a means to liberation. What does allyship look like with BIPOC and formerly incarcerated communities and how do we reconcile reinstating Pell and improving conditions of confinement when our ultimate goal is abolition.

Congresswoman Barbara Lee will deliver the opening remarks.

The panel discussion and Q&A will be moderated by the scholar, activist, and artist, Michelle Daniel Jones, scholar, and feature the voices of

  • Vivian Nixon, Executive Director of College and Community Fellowship
  • Terrell Blount, Activist for justice reform, racial justice, and higher education for currently and formerly incarcerated people
  • Kassandra Frederique, Executive Director of the Drug Policy Alliance
  • Dominique Morgan, Executive Director of Black and Pink
