No Options: Voices from the Frontlines of Global Reproductive Healthcare
November 1, 2017 @ 5:00 pm
The recent Global Gag Rule is a devastating blow to millions in the developing world. This deadly policy will prevent organizations from receiving crucial funding for contraception, maternal health care, HIV/AIDS, and Zika, and will result in a spike of unintended pregnancy and maternal death worldwide.
Join us for a conversation with Family Health Options Kenya Director of Clinical Services Amos Simpano, Kibera Clinic Director Melvine Ouyo, and human rights activist and award-winning author Lisa Shannon, who will discuss this global catastrophe and share their stories from the frontlines of reproductive healthcare in kenya, Congo and Somalia.
The event will being promptly at 5:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
Sponsored by the Carolina Women’s Center, Population Connection Action Fund, Carolina for Kibera, African Studies Center, and NARAL.
