The 27th Annual Moore Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (MURAP) virtual Conference will feature the theme of Justice and Trans-formation and focus on the dimensions of marginalization, trans communities, and intersectionalities of gender and race. Discussions will include reparations, gender & sexuality, social justice and diversity & inclusion, reflecting the unprecedented historical moment facing society. In the midst of two global pandemics, COVID-19 and systemic racism, MURAP is endeavoring to continue these conversations virtually, engaging with our 2021 student cohort, staff, faculty mentors, alumni, and invited guests. The topics we shall cover under this year’s theme include Covid-19 and its impact on minority communities; reparation; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and gender and sexuality studies.

The keynote will be delivered by Dr. Mignon R. Moore, Professor and Chair of Sociology, Columbia University & Barnard College, after whom the program is named.

Six students from the program will present their research during the conference and university professors from outside UNC-Chapel Hill will present their work on the designated theme of the section.
