Lecture: “The Animal is the New Black”
October 12, 2017 @ 5:00 pm
Trained as a Caribbeanist specializing in literatures and cultures from the French Antilles (Haiti, Martinique, and Guadeloupe), Bénédicte Boisseron now views herself more broadly as a “Black diaspora” scholar, seeking to highlight connections between French Continental, French Caribbean, and African-American thought. She is the author of The Creole Renegade: Rhetoric of Betrayal and Guilt in the Caribbean diaspora (Florida, 2014) and Afro-dog; Blackness and the Animal Question (under contract with Columbia University Press).
