Heilig Lecture: “Martin Buber – A Life of Faith and Dissent”

The Morris, Ida and Alan Heilig Lectureship in Jewish Studies will host Paul Mendes-Flohr, professor emeritus of Jewish intellectual history at the University of Chicago and professor emeritus of modern Jewish thought at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, who will speak on “Martin Buber: A Life of Faith and Dissent.” In this lecture, he will explore Martin Buber’s concept of faith as a life-long process in which one faces the existential ambiguities of interpersonal relations and the anguished realities of modern Jewish life.
