Film & Discussion: “Raising Bertie

The Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research will hold a special screening of the documentary, Raising Bertie, which tells the story of three African-American youths growing up in rural Bertie County, NC.
The screening runs from 1-3:00 p.m., A one-hour discussion with the film’s producer and a panel of Sheps Center researchers will follow. The panelists will reflect on health and public health in rural North Carolina. Anyone with an interest in the people of North Carolina, especially our rural populations, is encouraged to attend.
The event takes place at the Morehead Planetarium Science Stage. Enter at the West entrance, which faces UNC’s McCorkle Place and is marked by wide, shallow steps and two-story-tall columns.
