DOCSpeaks: “Stop the Oppression: Understanding Intersectional Gender Identities” with Gloria Thomas

DOCSpeaks, short talks on cultural competence, hosted by the Adams School of Dentistry’s Inclusive Excellence and Sponsored by Carolina Seminars, will present “Stop the Oppression: Understanding Intersectional Gender Identities,” with Director of the Carolina Women’s Center Gloria D. Thomas, BA, MA, PhD.

Thomas joined the Carolina Women’s Center as director in 2016. She previously served as director of the University of Michigan’s Center for the Education of Women (CEW) for seven years. She broadened the constituency of the CEW’s to include women and non-traditional students, wiht a focus on underserved students. Under her leadership, CEW received a $380,000 grant from the Ford Foundation to advance economic security and mobility for women living in poverty, particularly women of color in Detroit and Flint.
