DOCSpeaks: “Mitigating Misogyny: Theorizing Digital Age Feminist Activism”

DOCSpeaks has returned with its first event for the Spring semester: “Mitigating Misogyny: Theorizing Digital Age Feminist Activism” with Deb Aikat, MA, PhD.

DOCSpeaks is an iteration of the Dental and Oral Health Community Scholars (DOCS) Scholars Program featuring TEDTalk length cogent talks that intersect with cultural competence and healthcare. All sessions will feature 20-minute talks followed by a 20-minute Q and A.

Aikat is an award-winning researcher and associate professor at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media. He co-authored “Agendamelding: News, social media, audiences, and civic community,” which theorizes how audiences meld messages of newspapers, television and social media in our 21st century digital age. Of his numerous research and teaching excellence awards, he is one of the University’s 2019 Diversity Award recipients.
