Diaspora Film Festival Community Screening Event

October 7, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

As part of the Sonja Haynes Stone Center for Black Culture and History’s Diaspora Festival of Black and Independent Film, this special multiple screening will take place for the community. Following a 5:30 p.m. reception, the following short films will be screened:

  • Intersection – (9-minute short narrative) A road trip forces a young woman and her two friends to examine their identities and place in the American South.
  • Night Shift – (16-minute short narrative) Ollie Jeffries is an on-again, off-again actor. His long-time gig as a bathroom attendant on this one night forces Ollie to face a reality he’s not yet ready to embrace.
  • Where the Children Play – (18-minute short documentary) In times of violent intolerance, a group of children who live between the neighborhood and the woods live in the joyful adventures and learning of a Candomble’s House.
  • On Time – (8-minute short narrative) Renee Johnson, a mother living in South Central LA, must make a difficult decision when she’s late for her job interview.
