The Black Communities Conference’s core mission is to foster collaboration among Black communities and universities for the purpose of enhancing Black community life and furthering the understanding of Black communities.
Running from March 15 through March 24, the event will feature roundtables and collaborative sessions focusing on such topics as “Parenting Black Youth in the 21st Century,” “Are Anti-Racist Public Schools Possible?” “The Future of the Black Commons,” and “Black Business and Economic Freedom.” Also on the agenda are talkbacks on such films as “Green Days by the River,” “Black Ice” and “Cardiff 1919: Riots Redrawn,” and book talkbacks on “Banking on Freedom: Black Women in the U.S. Finance Before the New Deal” and more. Additionally, there will be partner panels with the Center for Racial Equity in Education, NC State University, and Recognize Black Heritage & Culture, roundtables and much more.
