Asexual Awareness Day Events
October 23, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 7:00 pm
We celebrate Ace Awareness Day as our campus observance of Asexual Awareness Week (October 22nd to 28th 2017). Asexual Awareness Week is an international campaign that seeks to educate about asexual, aromantic, demisexual, and grey-asexual experiences and to create materials that are accessible to the Ace community and their allies around the world. (Source: http://www.asexualawarenessweek.com) The LGBTQ Center is presenting several events as part of Asexual Awareness Day:
Ace and Aro Short Film Screenings 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., Student Union Room 3203:
Are you interested in learning more about asexual (ace), aromantic (aro), and ace spectrum identities? If so, join the LGBTQ Center for this one-hour event. Several short (3-15 minute) documentaries will be screened, each of which centers on the voices and lived experiences of ace and aro individuals.Topics include terminology, the place of asexuality within the LGBTQ community, and stereotypes and misconceptions of aces. LGBTQ Center Staff will frame the films with a short overview of asexuality, and will facilitate a Q&A afterwards.
Here are two other ways to get involved for Ace Awareness Day 2017:
Ace + Aro Pride & Solidarity in The Pit
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., The Pit
Take a photo with the Ace Flag, learn interesting Ace/Aro facts, and hang out with Ace/Aro folks and allies.
