The 23rd Annual MURAP Academic Conference will focus on the theme of “Intersectionality: Scholarship and Pedagogy Across the Disciplines.” The two-day conference includes:

  • Remarks from Dr. Rosa Perelmuter, Professor of Spanish and Director of The Moore Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (MURAP)
  • Samplings of MURAP Students’ Research
  • Keynote address by Dr. Gabrielle Civil, Laura C. Harris Scholar-in-Residence, Denison University, on “Experiments in Joy: Intersecting Art & Identity”
  • a feature presentation on “Intersectional Thinking After Graduation: Trends in a Global Database of Women’s and Gender Studies Graduates (1995-2010)” by Professor Michele Berger, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  • a panel on “Addressing Intersectionality” featuring the following scholars:
    • Professor Rose Brewer, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities – “Articulating Intersectionality: Disciplinary Challenges, Pedagogical Possibilities”
    • Professor Lester Spence, Johns Hopkins University – “Intersectionality and Police Violence: The Baltimore Case”
