Higher Ground Interview: John Biewen, Laurelyn Dossett, Dr. Deborah Stroman

September 17, 2020 @ 7:00 pm

For the last few years, playwright, actor, activist, and North Carolina treasure Mike Wiley (Leaving Eden, The Parchman Hour) has led a bus trip from his hometown of Pittsboro all the way to Alabama, exploring the many events of the Civil Rights Era and beyond. This year, he’s making those “journeys” happen virtually. Once a month, Mike invites you to converse with nationally-known thought leaders for a series of virtual conversations examining issues of race, justice, and social equity.

This month, he will interview John Biewen, journalist and audio documentarian, along with singer/songwriter Laurelyn Dossett and Race & Racism Educator Dr. Deborah Stroman. John Biewen will talk about who first made up the story of multiple human races, and why? And what does that history tell us about what it will take to dismantle racism today?

When you register, look out for your confirmation email. You’ll be given a personalized link to attend!

Participants should listen to the Seeing White podcast, Danger prior to this session.
