Now that you’ve registered for Project Uplift, you probably have many questions about what to pack, what’s allowed, and what to expect once you arrive at Carolina.

You’re in the right place! The tabs below will provide you with all you need to know (though if you should have further questions, please contact us at

The dates for Project Uplift are:

  • WEEK 1: May 24-26
  • WEEK 2: May 31-June 2
  • WEEK 3: June 7-9
  • WEEK 4: June 14-16

If you are unsure which date you have registered for, please revisit the confirmation email you received immediately after you registered. If you changed your date, you received a second confirmation email with the new date reflected in it. If you cannot locate the email, be sure to check your junk folder. We are unable to accommodate any date changes.

Be prepared to arrive for check-in at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Connor Residence Hall on Thursday between 8 and 10 a.m.

Please make arrangements to depart/check-out between 7 and 9 a.m. on Saturday.

If you are planning to arrive by bus, air, or train and arrive early to Project Uplift on your own (without parent or guardian, etc), or you are a student and plan on driving yourself, please see the “Getting to Project Uplift: Traveling Alone” section below.

If you changed your program date, you do NOT need to resubmit your payment or medical release.

All Project Uplift participants must complete the Emergency and Medical Release Form in order to participate in the program. If you have NOT completed your medical release form, you can do so by clicking here. You will also have an opportunity to complete a form when you arrive. However, if you are under the age of 18, it must be signed by a parent or guardian.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the large number of participants, we are unable to respond to requests to check if you have submitted your medical release. If you have questions, please submit the medical release form to ensure we have it in our files.

All participants are required to pay a $35 non-refundable registration fee. This is the only cost associated with the program. If you have NOT submitted your $35 payment, you may do so by selecting the week for which you are registered below or bring a money order with you upon arrival. Please, no cash or personal checks.

PLEASE NOTE: You will not be able to pay at the links above if you have already submitted payment online as long as you are using the same email that you used for your previous payment. An automated confirmation email is sent after payment. Due to the large number of participants, we are unable to respond to requests for confirmation of payment.

Students will eat their meals in the Lenoir dining hall. We have taken note of dietary restrictions and special needs that you listed on your medical release form and will share that information with Dining Services. We provide a late-night snack each night and consider dietary needs for that, as well. If you need assistance at any point during the program, please tell a staff member.

As you see above, we have set dining times for participants. However, we are aware that some students will be observing Ramadan during Project Uplift and have made arrangements for those students to make “to go” plates at dinner in order to eat at the appropriate time. We also encourage you to bring your preferred snacks to eat before the scheduled breakfast time.

If you need any other assistance at any point during the program, please tell a staff member.

Project Uplift parents and family members are invited to join us for a special Project Uplift Parents and Family Session immediately after each Thursday drop-off. At this session, you will hear more about your student’s Project Uplift experience, and learn about college admissions and affordability from UNC Undergraduate Admissions.

The sessions begin at 9:30 a.m., Thursday mornings, at the Rizzo Conference Center

The address to the Rizzo Center is 150 DuBose Home Lane, Chapel Hill, NC 27517. Upon arriving at the Rizzo Center, turn right at the Gate House. The main parking lot is on the right as you drive up the hill. HERE is a link to an online property map to help orient you to the facility as well as assist you in finding the meeting room.

During WEEK 1 (May 24th) the Session will be heldin Classroom 108 which is in Loudermilk Hall.  Loudermilk Hall is the 1st brick building as you cross over from the parking lot. For Weeks 2-4, the Session will be held in the Magnolia Room, Loudermilk Hall.

Please RSVP for the Parent & Family Session below. RSVP is not required but is encouraged.

Participants must depart the Project Uplift site between 7 and 9 a.m. on Saturday morning. Please make arrangements to be picked up during this time.

Participants are not allowed to leave their residence hall until they have been checked out by Project Uplift. Parents should report to the drop off location and give Project Uplift staff the name of their participant and staff will release the participant.

Before leaving the premises, participants are expected to leave their room clean and return their key. Failure to return the key will result in a charge of $75.

Early checkouts are accommodated at 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday night. Students will be allowed to depart early during one of the designated early departure times. Absent an emergency, students may not depart from the program outside of the designated departure times.

During the program, students will have an opportunity to inform PU staff if they intend to leave during the departure time.

An SAT is scheduled for June 2 and ACT is scheduled for June 9. During these weeks, participants may also depart at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday.
