About Project Uplift

Project Uplift is a special program that enables rising high school seniors to experience college life on Carolina’s campus. Project Uplift seeks to engage participants in an immersive experience that connects them with UNC-Chapel Hill. Participants learn about the admissions and financial aid process, build meaningful connections with students from across the country, attend a culture show, and interact with Carolina students, faculty, and staff. Parents/guardians have the option to attend a parent panel, where they learn about academic and campus resources available to their student.

Project Uplift is designed to allow students to experience learning in a variety of different university contexts, from large lectures to small seminars and, most important, from interactions with current Carolina students. The cost to participate in Project Uplift is $50.

LIVE

Visiting campus gives students a taste of Carolina life. Participants go on a campus tour led by current Carolina students and eat a meal in one of the campus dining halls. During small group sessions, participants engage in meaningful conversations inside Carolina classrooms.

LEARN

The diverse and inclusive community at UNC-Chapel Hill enhances learning by inviting students to analyze issues from multiple perspectives. Learning alongside students from across the country allows participants to broaden their own worldviews. Students will engage in conversations on a variety of topics from current events to culture and identity.

Project Uplift participants engage with Carolina’s world-renowned faculty and staff, connect with current UNC students and participate in a culture show and other enrichment activities.

Project Uplift provides opportunities for students to learn about college admissions and affordability. Students will have the ability to speak directly with staff from Carolina’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

LEAD

Project Uplift will challenge and encourage participants to become leaders! Our goal is that when students leave, they have a desire to learn more about themselves and will feel empowered to modify or create a new understanding of themselves as successful college students.
