Taneisha Henderson (she/her/hers) is the Programmatic Support Coordinator for Diversity & Inclusion, overseeing accounts payable, coordinating meetings, and assisting the Chief Diversity Officer. She joined the UODI team in 2016 when she moved with her family from the dry desert community of Las Vegas to the lush landscape of Carolina.
Taneisha finds a great rapport with the students, often providing support with such Inclusive Student Excellence programs as Project Uplift and NC Renaissance. “Working with the students is the best part of working in D&I,” she says. “Seeing the staff and faculty do all the programming that we do and the impact on the communities that we serve has given me a passion to help people. I really found my niche when I got here.”
For going above and beyond expectations, Taneisha was presented with the Ribbon of Recognition by Workforce Strategy, Equity and Engagement.

Is that what the cool kids are listening to these days?!?
Best perk of your job?
The students, I can’t say it enough. The journeys we are privileged to watch, be a part of and influence. The success and greatness that takes place over the years in front of our eyes. Watching generations to come mature, find themselves and make decisions to become part of the change is everything to me.
In an alternate universe, what would you do for a living?
I would own a dog rescue. I love all animals, but have a passion for dogs. My first small job was receiving/intake at an animal shelter and seeing pets living afraid, caged and then euthanized impacted me. I dream to have a large plot of land and visit kill shelters to adopt the unadoptable and forgotten so that they could live long happy lives…or I’d be a runway model.
Name three things that people would be most surprised to learn about you.
I have nine children and often foster others, I’m really 6’1 without my shoes (and no I never played basketball) and my favorite sport is UFC.
What’s on your bucket list?
I’m busy being super mom! My current bucket list is to raise fine, healthy, motivated young ladies and gentlemen…after that, my husband and I will travel the world.
Whom Do You Admire…and Why?
Independent thinkers, the outspoken, those who aren’t afraid to speak and express themselves in positive a manner. Those who impact change and never stop striving to find a way to be impactful on the world around them and those who are watching…and my mom, she’s a force to be reckoned with.
