A Black Man and Woman in grief

The unrelenting violence against Black people, particularly at the hands of police – as we have witnessed in the current trial against Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis police officer charged with killing George Floyd and in this weekend’s shooting of Daunte Wright, yet another unarmed Black man – is simply overwhelming. While many people are appalled and outraged, no one feels the emotional impact of these undiminished attacks more keenly than members of our community who experience the trauma of systemic racism on a daily basis.

Black Mental Health Resources (curated by NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness) provides a variety of outlets to support your well-being at any time…but particularly during this time of crisis.

UNC-Chapel Hill students are also advised to reach out to CAPS Multicultural Health Program, which is specifically dedicated to meeting the needs of students of color.
