Dear Campus Community,

We hope this email finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe. On April 6, the University launched the search for a Vice Provost for Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer, and we’re reaching out to encourage each of you to provide your feedback in the development of the position description.  You are an integral part of the University and play an important role in our success.  Attached is a copy of the communication that went out to the campus community describing the anticipated role of the new VP/CDO, however below is the information you need to know regarding your opportunity to have your voice heard

The following questions have been developed to frame discussions about the Vice Provost for Equity and Inclusion/Chief Diversity Officer and their role in the Carolina community:

  • What three traits most clearly define the culture of UNC-Chapel Hill?
  • What do you envision as the top three goals for the Vice Provost for Equity & Inclusion/Chief Diversity Officer in the short term (six months) and the longer term (five years)?
  • What are the three most critical skills that the Vice Provost for Equity & Inclusion/Chief Diversity Officer needs to accomplish the top short- and long-term goals?
  • How would you showcase the Vice Provost for Equity & Inclusion/Chief Diversity Officer opportunity to a strong candidate who is currently happy in their role and not looking to make a career change?

Two avenues have been developed for you to provide input:

  • Email the search committee at: VPCDO.search@unc.edu
  • Participate in a community listening session. Following are the scheduled sessions:
April 14, 2020  10-11:30 a.m.  Zoom registration
April 14, 2020  2-3:30 p.m.  Zoom registration
April 27, 2020  10-11:30 a.m.   Zoom registration

We hope you will use one or more of these avenues to share your thoughts about our Carolina community and the kind of leader who will help us to build our community together.
