The 39th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Keynote Lecture and Awards Ceremony was held on January 22, 2020, at Memorial Hall on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, Georgetown University Sociology Professor, author and radio host.(Jon Gardiner/UNC-Chapel Hill)


UNC’s MLK, Jr. Week of Celebration featured numerous events across campus that acknowledged the bridge-building legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The University/Community MLK, Jr. Memorial Banquet, which featured NC Chief Justice Cheri Beasley as the keynote speaker, and the MLK, Jr. Lecture and Awards Ceremony, with keynote speaker Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, were highlight events, driven by the University Office for Diversity and Inclusion, the Carolina Union Activities Board and others.
