Proclamation Official StampGovernor Roy Cooper declared September 15 – October 15, 2017 Hispanic Heritage Month in the State of North Carolina in an official proclamation released October 5, 2017. The celebration was established nationally in 1988 (Public Law 1988) in the U.S. and is observed in North Carolina by recognizing the social, cultural, and economic impact Hispanics and Latinos have made in our way of life. The Proclamation also acknowledges that the “Hispanic community is part of the fabric of North Carolina, enriching our schools and education system; bolstering the economy as business owners, employers, and entrepreneurs; and contributing to the overall growth and progress of our state.”
