“Los Jets” follows the story of the Siler City, North Carolina-based top-ranked boys’ high school soccer team, the Jordan-Matthews Jets, as they fight for a spot in the North Carolina State Championships.

The show is co-executive produced by Jennifer Lopez and Lynda Lopez under the Nuyorican Productions banner, and is the first series to be part of NUVOtv’s new Nu America franchise. The show was developed in response to the book “A Home on the Field” by Paul Cuadros, which chronicled the ascent of the Latino soccer team. The book was the Carolina Summer Reading Program selection in 2009. Publicity around the book and story drew NUVOtv to film a season in the life of Los Jets team members in the fall of 2013.

Cuadros is executive director of the Scholars’ Latino Initiative and associate professor at the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
The event will have a reception, screening and post film program. If you are interested in attending, please contact Josmell Perez at unc-clc@unc.edu
